How the iPhone lock works
Require Summer Ladder first. Then selected apps unlock.
The lock runs inside TYB on your child's iPhone. You choose the apps or categories to pause, set a parent PIN, and TYB releases those selected apps after today's Summer Ladder challenge is complete.
App blocking works on iPhone only.
Summer Ladder works on iPhone, Android, tablets, and web. The automatic "pause TikTok until learning is done" feature uses Apple's Screen Time APIs, so that part is iPhone-only right now. Android families still get the full Summer Ladder program without native app blocking from TYB.

Real questions, real answers.
Does app blocking work on Android?
No. Summer Ladder works on Android, iPad, tablets, and web, but TYB's native app blocking uses Apple's Screen Time APIs. The automatic pause-until-learning-is-done feature is iPhone-only right now.
Can I set up the lock from my own phone?
You can create the parent account and add kids from your phone or the website. The app blocking setup has to happen inside TYB on your child's iPhone, because that is the phone being paused.
Can I block every app?
Do not choose TYB or an all-apps option that includes TYB. Your kid needs TYB available so they can finish Summer Ladder and unlock the selected apps for the rest of the day.
Why can my kid still turn it off in iOS Settings?
Apple requires Screen Time access to be controlled on the device. TYB protects the in-app lock settings with a parent PIN, but iOS can still revoke Screen Time permission in Settings. If that happens, TYB will show that Screen Time access needs to be restored.
What if we start mid-summer?
Totally fine. You can join Summer Ladder anytime through August. Your pass is good through August 31 regardless of when you start. Past challenges stay accessible too — kids can play catch-up if they want.
Will Summer Ladder work on phones, tablets, and computers?
Yes. Summer Ladder runs in the iOS app, Android app, and web app, and the streak syncs across devices. The automatic app pause is the only part that requires your child's iPhone.
How is this different from a $25 workbook?
